Under the general supervision of the Psychologist Manager this position is responsible statewide for conducting actuarial sex offender risk assessments utilizing risk assessment tools such as Static 99 and Rapid Risk Assessment of Offender (RRASOR) as ordered by the Court as part of the Pre-Sentence Investigation process pursuant to Wisconsin Statute 972.15. Responsibilities include conducting a thorough record review, scoring actuarial sex offender risk assessments, providing expert testimony and any other related functions. The Psychologist Chief, as an expert in the evaluation of sex offenders, will also provide training and case consultation to other department staff.
As time permits and as assigned, this position provides general psychological services to individual DCC Regions including psychological assessment of offenders, psychological consultation with probation and parole agents and supervisors to assist them in determining programmatic placement and service needs, consultation with psychiatrists, field and institution administrators and other Corrections staff involved in planning the total program of a given offender, staff development and training, and other assigned duties as directed.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Knowledge of evaluation and assessment techniques appropriate to the psychological assessment of adult offenders, particularly in regard to individuals with paraphilias; specific knowledge of treatment strategies and the efficacy of treatment interventions with sex offenders; knowledge of theory, principles and practices of psychology of personality, developmental psychology, psychopathology, psychophysiology, learning, perception, motivation, thinking, emotion and interpersonal relationships and their relationship to understanding and rehabilitating criminal behavior; knowledge of basic psychological assessment techniques, their standardization, validation, administration, interpretation, and limitations including knowledge of test, interview and behavioral norms of correctional clients; knowledge of the theory and techniques of measurement, testing and psychological assessment and diagnosis, including knowledge of interviewing skills; knowledge of psychological factors in emotional and mental disorders, social and educational deviation, and other varieties of human maladaptation; knowledge of the theory, principles and practices of clinical psychology, including intensive psychotherapy, individual, group and family/marital therapy, cognitive behavioral psychotherapy, cognitive psychotherapy and behavior therapy; specific knowledge in providing expert court testimony; knowledge of the principles and process of consultation as it is applies to correctional clients; knowledge of the effect of minority group membership, educational, economic, social and emotional deprivation on behavior; skill in analyzing and integrating assessment information and communicating it in written psychological reports, including making appropriate recommendations, treatment plans and/or referrals; knowledge of the methods of scientific inquiry and research, including research design, statistical analysis and the preparation of research reports; knowledge of the American Psychological Association (APA) Ethical principles, APA General Specialty Guidelines for clinical and forensic psychologists; knowledge of requirements of the APA and Association of Psychology Post-Doctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) for implementation of an internship in professional psychology; knowledge of the techniques of clinical supervision and training; knowledge of relevant chapters of Wisconsin State Statutes and Wisconsin Administrative Codes; excellent written and oral communication skills.
