Salary: $ 172,263.52 to $211,755.86
JOB DUTIES:
Under the direction of the BHD M! edical Director or Service Medical Director to be responsible for:
Diagnosis, Care treatment and Planning for all adults, adolescent and/or child patients within assigned service or program (Acute Inpatient â€" Medical Model responsible for up to 12 adult patients or Psychology Model responsible for up to 24 adult patients). Medication management. Leading and correlating the contributions of other medical and ancillary disciplines within his/her assigned unit or clinic. Teaching, training and supervision of medical students, residents and/or child & adolescent psychiatry fellows, as assigned. Consulting with outside physicians, ancillary professionals, agencies and/or other interested individuals and groups. Ensuring that physical care needs of patients are being addressed by physical care staff and other providers, as applicable, including needs for referrals, consultations, and after care recommendations, when required. Serving as CODE 4 (medical emergency) offic! er as assigned. Provision of seclusion/restrain assessments. P! rovision of suicide/homicide assessments. Maintaining appropriate and timely medical record recommendation in conformance with all required standards. Supervising the activities of privileged allied health professionals assigned to service/program area as assigned. Familiarity with mental health law in the State of Wisconsin. Integrating services goals, objectives and outcomes to patient care. Preparing for and testifying at commitment/detention hearings. Maintaining a working knowledge of all critical medical staff and hospital policies. Participating in professional review activities. Participating and serving on medical staff committees. Conferring and working with professional and lay staff on matters regarding proper and efficient operation of the clinical facility and program. Working with medical managers and branch administrators. Taking an active role in the development of policies and standards for patient care. Updating professional knowledge on a continuing basi! s. Preparing and presenting professional reports, as needed. Performing other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE:
Residency training in psychiatry is required. Experience in the field of psychiatry after completion of required residency is desirable.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, techniques, literature, and new developments in the field of psychiatry including psychopharmacology. Ability to conduct and supervise psychotherapy. Ability to assume major responsibility in an adult or child/adolescent psychiatric services. Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with personnel, patients, relatives/guardians of patients and agencies.
EDUCATION: Completion of an accredited internship is required; completion of three (3) years of an accredited psychiatric residency-training program is required (Applicants within their final 3 months of trainin! g may be considered, proof pending of training completion by appointing! authority). Current Wisconsin Licensure in the field of Medicine and Surgery, at time of initial appointment and maintained throughout employment is required. Must be eligible for Federal DEA registration. Board Certification in Psychiatry is desirable.
THE EXAMINATION is open to qualified residents of the United States. Appointee must establish residence within the confines of the State of Wisconsin within six months of appointment and maintain such residency during incumbency.
