We are currently recruiting for three residents to jo! in our vibrant mental health service line, beginning July 1, 2014. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and have a strong interest in pursuing a career in psychiatric pharmacy.
The Psychiatry Pharmacy Residency is designed to provide highly motivated and exceptionally qualified pharmacists with a myriad of experiences in mental health. These include inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, integrated care, addictive disorders treatment program, community support program, and clinical instructorship at the University of Wisconsin â€" Madison. These experiences are coordinated under the direct and immediate supervision of the Residency Program Director and 15 interdisciplinary clinical preceptors. The primary mission of the residency is to develop leadership and management skills that will support a professional practice in psychiatric pharmacy. This mission is realized by providing experiences and responsibilities that realistically develop and augment the residentâ€! ™s communication skills, problem solving abilities, profession! al knowledge base, judgment, and exceptional Veteran-centric care. By providing an atmosphere for the resident to grow and develop individual talents (while receiving guidance and structure as required), the resident will become more cognizant of their strengths and weaknesses and will be able to continually apply themselves to further enhance their clinical and leadership practice skills.
The purpose of the Psychiatry Pharmacy Residency is to support and enhance patient care by developing the knowledge and skills that are needed to achieve competency in the provision of psychiatric pharmacy. Graduates of the program shall be able to develop, implement, monitor, and maintain operational and clinical pharmacy services, and shall be able to successfully apply the principles of interprofessional growth, academic teaching and course development, psychopharmacology, personal development, program development, and evidence-based outcome assessment.
