The Role
As our Head of Data, you will wield your leadership to advance our data strategy across ZenBusiness. We need an experienced person to manage our data team, create career paths, and plan for our data platform, datasets, data tooling, and AI. Your instrumental role will include overseeing the delivery of data systems and products to support internal stakeholders and enhance product offerings.

You are a seasoned data leader with a proven track record of harnessing data to drive business success. You have a clear vision of how data can improve every aspect of a business and possess the leadership skills necessary to make that vision a reality. You have a service-oriented mindset, understanding the importance of taking direction from the business while also leading with innovative technology ideas that can propel the company forward.
This role reports to our CTO and is a remote role.
Responsibilities
- Building and Leading a Data Organization: Cultivate a high-performing data organization that spans Data Analytics, Data Science, Data Engineering, and Infrastructure. Lead, nurture, and retain a diverse team of data scientists, data engineers, and analysts, fostering innovation and continuous learning.
- Product Analytics Strategy: Propel the strategy for product analytics, reinforcing multiple internal organizations and product initiatives.
- Analytics Execution: Spearhead the execution of our analytics strategy, ensuring on-time delivery of all analytics initiatives.
- Strategic Advisory: Act as a key strategic advisor to the executive team, leveraging data-driven insights to impact decision-making on key performance drivers.
- Technical Problem-Solving: Tackle critical technical challenges to refine and enhance deliverables' quality and measurement.
- Data Strategy Development: Devise a multi-year data strategy, facilitating thoughtful data collection, growth, and maximum utilization
- Data Advocacy: Promote the use of data throughout the organization, ensuring strategic planning is data-driven.
- Communication and Storytelling: Employ your communication skills to craft compelling data narratives that bring your solutions to life.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience working in data engineering, data science, and analytics, with 5+ years of experience in a management role.
- Extensive experience in data strategy, data governance, and data operations.
- Proven track record of building and leading high-performing data teams in a fast-paced, results-oriented tech business.
- Experience in being part of a data team that successfully transitioned a startup to IPO or successful exit.
- Proficiency in analytics and reporting, with an ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights.
- Proven and successful experience in a consulting role for senior business leaders and executives.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or another quantitative field. (Advanced degree preferred)
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with our tools stack: Snowflake, Tableau, Airflow, and DBT or similar.
- Fintech and/or SaaS experience.
- Knowledge of the Google Cloud Platform.
- macOS and Google Workspace knowledge.
