The Tomah VA Me! dical Center is located in an attractive, rural community of 8,000 with a family-oriented, Midwest atmosphere. While Tomah offers the benefits of small community living, big city life isnÂ't far away. La Crosse and Madison , WI are an hour or so away and Milwaukee , WI and Minneapolis , MN are a three-hour drive. The area offers high quality public and parochial schools, a local community hospital and a multitude of recreational activities year-round.
Outpatient Psychiatrist - The Tomah VA Medical Center, located in Tomah, Wisconsin, is recruiting for a board-certified or board-eligible staff psychiatrist to provide outpatient care at the Tomah, Wausau, and Wisconsin Rapids clinics in Wisconsin. Incumbent can choose to sit at either Tomah, Wisconsin Rapids, or Wausau. Telemental Health will be used as needed to reach Veterans at other sites. The candidate will be highly skilled in the management of patients' mental health needs, and the evaluation and treatment of ! a diverse range of mental health disorders. Duties include, but are not limited to, treatment and professional direction of outpatient care. Must be clinically competent to perform examinations, diagnosis, therapeutic treatment, be effective in handling emergencies, patient management and document in patient records. Must be effective in teaching (patient education and co-workers). Must be effective in planning, using administrative judgment and should have sound decision making skills. Must be emotionally stable, dependable and adhere to ethical standards.
Inpatient Psychiatrist -The current program includes an 11-bed acute psychiatry unit, three mental health nursing home units, and a residential treatment program with 45 beds. The preferred weekday team of medical/psychiatric providers for these units includes two psychiatrists, three physician assistants, and a part-time and full-time psychiatric nurse practitioner. The specific bed coverage will be determined ! based on facility need and the interests of the applicant and of collea! gues. Psychiatric consultation may also be provided to non-psychiatric units on occasion. The candidate must be highly skilled in the management of the full span of psychiatric disorders across the adult lifespan, and must provide clinical leadership to a large multidisciplinary team. Must be able to perform psychiatric history and mental status examinations, assessment and diagnosis, and provide or direct therapeutic treatments. This position requires some clinical supervision of mid-level providers. Interpersonal skills with patients and staff are highly valued. The candidate must be emotionally stable, dependable and adhere to ethical standards.

BASIC ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an e! quivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current license.
- Applicant must meet the physical standards established for this position.
- Applicant must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(s) and 7407(d).
- Required to be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and to be Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
Salary determination is conducted by a compensation panel based on qualification per VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G2.
