In addition to our main facility in Tomah, we offer services in four community-based outpatient clinics. These clinics are located in LaCrosse, Clark County, Wausau, and Wisconsin Rapids. VAMC Tomah is one of seven facilities that comprise Veterans Integrated Services Network 12 (VISN12) which is administratively headquartered at Hines, IL, and includes facilities in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan.

There are currently three openings for RNs for 403A Acute Psychiatry at the Tomah VA Medical Center. Two full-time and one part-time (.5 FTE). All are for the night shift.
Work Schedule: Night Shift
UNIT: 403A Acute Psychiatry
DUTIES:
403A/N is a 24 bed dual purpose unit; 403A Acute Psychiatry (11 beds), is designed to provide a psychiatrically safe environment and 403N Community Living Center (CLC) (13 beds) is a less restricted ! environment which fosters residents' transition to independent living. The patient population includes patients with a variety of psychiatric diagnoses such as PTSD, suicidal behavior, schizophrenia, bipolar disease. traumatic brain injuries, etc. Patients range in age from young adult to frail elderly (18Â90+). Care includes stabilization of medications, starting psychotropic medication, detoxification, assistance with ADUs, medical support, ambulation, etc. The ALOS for 403 acute is 4 days and 403CLC is 30 days. For staff and patient safety, the ability to competently perform PMDB skills is required of all nursing staff on the Unit.
Therapeutic teaching, coaching, mentoring and programming is an important aspect of delivery of Nursing Care.

Applicant's education and length of nursing practice (experience) will be considered by a Nurse Professional Standards Board in! determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected. Each dimension of practice has criteria that demonstrate essential core competencies for VHA Nursing Personnel.
