JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for all transactional and operations level activities of the ALM (LCY) Desk, providing support to TL and Head ALM.
Key performance areas are:
Execution of transactions authorised by Team Leader ALM LCY and Chief Dealer.
Managing daily cashflow and the position blotter to ensure funding across all SBP centres in Pakistan.
Maintaining of LCY cash & statutory reserve as per regulatory requirements.
Interacting with brokers in the domestic market for execution at best possible pricing
Description
Maintenance of Statutory Reserves:
- Daily statutory reserve management for the domestic balance sheet as per Central Bank regulatory requirements to avoid any penalties, punitive action or reputational loss due to inadequate reserve maintenance.
Liquidity Management:
- Managing balances in 15 SBP accounts across the country to ensure branches have the liquidity to meet all customer commitments without breaching reserve limits.
Transaction Execution and Booking:
- The Dealer ALM LCY assists the Team Leader ALM LCY in executing investment strategy for the banking book portfolio (AFS + HTM fixed income portfolios or their successors in the IFRS9 framework). The Dealer also assists with correct input of all transactions into the position blotter and the Treasury MIS.
Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all local regulatory requirements and the bank’s internal policies. Treasury is the focus of specific and general regulation from the regulator. There are also multiple internal policies impacting the Treasury function. Non-compliance with regulatory requirements exposes the bank to fines, penalties, reputational damage etc. Non-compliance with internal policies, particularly Risk policies exposes the bank to financial loss.
Pricing:
- The Dealer ALM LCY fields broker and counterparty calls for market-making. The Dealer ensures that any pricing he/she provides to brokers/counterparties is ratified by the Team Leader. The dealer is accountable to provide regular market updates to the senior dealer and the team leader to enable them to price accurately when facing counterparts.
Interaction with Internal and External Clients:
- Establish and build a healthy and mutually beneficial relationship with both internal (Corporate, Retail, Global Rates) as well as external counterparties (e.g., SBP, banks, brokers etc.) in order to maximize market penetration and shareholders bottom line.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or equivalent BA / BSc degree in accordance with the bank’s recruitment policies.
