Post-doctoral position in primate electrophysiology and neuroimaging
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Description: University of Wisconsin - Madison is currently seeking to employ Post-doctoral position in primate electrophysiology and neuroimaging right now, this vacancy will be designated in Wisconsin. Further informations about this vacancy opportunity please read the description below. A post-doctoral position is available in the laboratory of Prof. Yuri Saa! lmann in the Department of Psychology and Wisconsin National Primate Research Center at the University of Wisconsin â€" Madison (http://glial.psych.wisc.edu/index.php/psychsplashfacstaff/312). The lab investigates the neural dynamics of brain networks supporting executive functions (e.g., attention, rule processing) and conscious awareness. To do this, we combine multi-site electrophysiology and neuroimaging in behaving macaques and human subjects.
Possible projects include probing (i) differences in neural dynamics between conscious and anesthetized states, and (ii) thalamo-cortical interactions during executive processes. This may involve mapping brain networks using diffusion MRI and then simultaneously recording from interconnected network sites in macaques. There is also the opportunity to run complementary experiments using intracranial electrocorticogram recordings from human subjects performing the same task as the macaques, to bridge knowledge across primate sp! ecies.
Necessary qualifications for this position are a Ph! .D. in neuroscience (or related field) and proficiency in electrophysiological recordings. Additional desirable qualifications include experience with non-human primates, multi-electrode recordings, computational neuroscience and neuroimaging.
The successful post-doc will have the opportunity to acquire a valuable skill set including multi-electrode recordings, microstimulation, functional MRI, diffusion MRI and computational analyses. Available facilities include lab space within the National Primate Research Center, the Harlow Primate Center, and two state-of-the-art neuroimaging centers at the Waisman Center and the Health Emotions Research Institute in the Department of Psychiatry.
The post-doctoral position is a two year appointment, with the possibility of renewal. To apply, please email saalmann@princeton.edu a CV, two reference letters, a representative publication and a cover letter outlining research interests.
